A’sha Scott, Founder of D.I.V.As Build Futures, Inc., was born a Gary, Indiana native in August of 1986, moving to Woodland Hills, California following the passing of her mother in October 1997. Leaving a legacy, memories and a childhood behind, she began her journey facing different life challenges at a young age. Always looking for better ways to cope with life as a girl, she always found therapy in helping other young girls work on their issues by allowing them to vent to her and conversate about their future goals together. Graduating from a continuation high school, she received awards such as, the 2004-05 Principle Service Excellence Award at Thoreau High School and The Majors Above and Beyond Recognition Award in 2005. She attended Allen University a HBCU in Columbia South Carolina, where she received her AA in Social Science and Communication. Graduating from Pierce College in 2009 with her BA in Geriatric Nursing.
Moving to McKinney Texas in June 2016, Asha followed God’s plan on bettering the lives of herself and two children, by taking the necessary steps towards her passion and purpose on helping youth girls. A’sha’s forever mission is to create no judgement environments and safe zones where girls can be themselves, grow together, receive consistent help and motivation through their adversities, provide transitional housing and grants towards housing assistance, tutoring services, mentoring services and vocational education programs. Her mission was to make sure she paved the way with old school lessons teaching character & class in a new school society. Her biggest goal was to educate young girls who came behind her, on not making the same mistakes and creating a sisterhood where they had a family and resources to become successful people.
Launching Divas Build Futures at North Texas Job Corps in McKinney, Texas in 2017, has ultimately been a rewarding experience. Joining the Collin County Black Chamber of Commerce in 2017 , Asha has made many successful connections and partnerships such as, Collin County Boys and Girls Club of Mckinney, Legacy Charter Preparatory Academy, Dell Communications, Haggard Library, and many more. Partnering with many business and companies has opened many doors and allowed Divas Build Futures, Inc. to truly grow into something amazing. The Divas have expanded their horizons in entrepreneurship, business and community relations. In the past year, through consistency and persistence, DBF has been able to service 300+ girls in the DFW & Metroplex area, in Housing advocacy assistance, College Advocacy Education, Self-Esteem & Etiquette Mentoring, Confidence Makeovers, Hygiene Mentorship, and the DBF Big Sister/Little Sister mentoring program.
